Does Iverson still have a last shot?

Whats happening with the Sixers? Last month, they keep buzzin about trading Ai to any team. We hear news bout Ai wearin an Atlanta Braves jersey. Then, the news died out. Sixers say Ai aint movin out. I thought Boston was gonna get Iverson. Sixers probably want a good exchange for the Allstar Iverson. Boston just doesnt have anybody to trade to Ai. With Paul Pierce signing a new contract. No doubt Pierce is for keeps in Boston for now. G.S. Warriors wasnt interested in Ai too. Iverson had reached his peek 3-5 years ago, but its still a wonder why he keeps on leading the league in scoring. If he wants the Sixers to be competitive again, he better concentrate on passing the ball. He's got C-webb by his side, Igoudala by his side. No problem on scoring if thats the case. Iverson still lacks the passing game that he used to do. Instead his hurting his team by scoring too much. Iverson will be entering his 11th season this year. Thats 11 years in Philly. On history, the Sixers had only 1 good solid season with Ai. That was way back in 2001, when he won a MVP trophy, and took his only trip to the NBA FINALS. The talk of moving on, why not. Its good to see a player change a scenario. I sure dont want Ai to be tag as "will play for a championship ring" tag in the years to come. So, will the Sixers rebuild? They have to. Iverson aint getting much younger, and his body has seen a lot of great battles. Time for Igoudala and C-webb to shine. Its a new era. Put more minutes on the rookies. Specifically Louis Williams. Sure, that kid can play ball folks.

allen iverson is not the problem and never has been. He averaged 33.4 points last year and is shooting 45%. That is more than anybody in the last ten years except for kobe and jordan. As for him not passing he averaged more assists the last two years than ever. The problem is other players need to be more aggressive. It is the same thing with kobe, the other players give him the ball and expect him to bring them through everytime instead of getting envolved. it's only so much one player can do to make teammates better. the biggest problem is defense. They are horrible defensively and i don't care what anybody says kyle krover is not a starting nba shooting guard. the sixers should have traded rodney carney and kyle krover for jr smith. here is a young guard with great shooting ability and is very athletic. he could be one of the top 10 players in the league in the future.

AI is one of the best players in the game right now, Phili would have to be crazy to trade him. The only way that he will leave the 6ers is if he becomes a free-agent, in which teams will do all they can to get him, because they know he's got skills. I agree with tron, it is not AI's fault that the team hasn't excelled, it's his teammates. Yes, they are good, but they need to be able to rise to the level that AI plays at in order to succeed. And look out everyone, Phili is going to shock the league this year make it through a couple rounds of the playoffs, just wait and see. And from there, they can only get better.

LenS:

Allen is the problem. As the team's superstar, he sets the example for everyone else. His unwillingness to practice sends a message to the other players that they don't have to listen to the coach. And that message has been received loud and clear -- just witness the recent Cheeks-Dalembert incident.

His play on the court is just as selfish. He gets his stats, no matter the cost to the team. Every other player soon learns that since he's clearly not as good as A.I., he shouldn't expect to see the ball even if he's open.

Finally, 2001 was a lucky exception for the team. The East was incredibly bad that year -- the Sixers would have had difficulty in making the playoffs in the West and they definitely wouldn't have had any home advantage in any series like they did in the East. And that success was with a team that was all defense, had career years and let Allen indulge himself in his one-man fantasy. It was a fluke year.
