Marbury Fined By Knicks

New York Knicks guard Stephon Marbury decided not to join his team for last night's game against the Phoenix Suns. As a result, the Knicks have docked him a game-check worth $180,000, enough money to buy 12,000 pairs of his special $15 shoes.

Marbury, for his part, claims he had permission from Knicks coach Isiah Thomas to miss the game, which the Knicks lost 113-102. Obviously, since they fined him, he didn't have permission. It is not known yet whether Marbury plans on showing for the Knicks' game against the Clippers tonight in L.A. If he doesn't, he will presumably have another $180,000 ripped from his wallet. If this keeps up he's going to have to jack the price of those shoes up to $20, which is exactly 20 dollars more than I would personally pay for anything with Stephon's name on it.
