Sonics rookie Kevin Durant thinks his pal Greg Oden of the Trailblazers has let himself go since undergoing microfracture surgery on his right knee a few months ago.
"It's good seeing him walking around," Durant said after visiting with Oden during Seattle's Christmas day trip to Portland. "But he's big though."
The seven-foot Oden has reportedly blown up from 250 pounds to the neighborhood of 290 - not a great neighborhood to be in if you're trying to take care of your knees (just ask Shaquille). The top draft pick, who has yet to play an NBA game, assured his organization that he'd go on a diet and not gain anymore weight, saying "I won't get any bigger, that's for sure. I'm good right now."
The Blazers have not missed Oden, who was anointed the franchise's savior after being drafted #1 overall out of Ohio State. The team is currently 16-12, second in the Northwest Division behind Denver, and has discovered a budding star in second-year guard Brandon Roy. Roy's development has Blazers fans salivating at the team's prospects for a dynamic guard/center combo once Oden returns. Assuming Oden doesn't look like Fat Bastard by then.

Oden is working hard and the trail blazers and fans alike recognize and appreciate that fact. And as for "The team is currently 16-12, second in the Northwest Division behind Denver, and has discovered a budding star in second-year guard Brandon Roy." ...it's not like he was just discovered, fans in Portland have known his talent since our r.o.y. first entered the league. The only thing that is different is that we are now getting some national coverage and we are currently on an eleven game win streak, and because of that win streak...league has finally taken notice of Portland's talent and giving them their well-deserved attention.
